几天前,我恨死电子邮件

我刚从宁波回来……在那没法用电子邮件……所以我现在有493封新邮件要清理……所以我要写一篇 “ 抱怨博客 ” , 希望你能喜欢! 看完后别忘了留言。

“ 你没收到我的邮件吗? ”, “ 我的邮件你读没读啊? ”。写这些话的仁兄写书一样长的邮件……还指望别人读……

我的意思是说, 我记得获得第一个电子邮件帐户的时候, 差不多是1995年吧, 那时候我正上8年级, 只有一个25兆赫兹处理频率的 PC 机和一个 1440  波特拨号上网猫。我有一张光盘能建立一个免费的 juno 帐户, 在我的电脑上安上软件然后就能创立一个免费的 @juno.com 的电子邮件帐户了 (实际上我都忘了当时用的handle了)。要想用电子邮件我得打开他们的客户端软件,然后拨号到他们的邮件服务器下载电子邮件。免费电子邮件的条件是, banner广告和下载额外的电子邮件广告。

这很爽。在那之前我还记得拨号上本地的BBS,在上面留言进行线上交流。

然后AOL, 伴随那句超酷的已经深入人心的“ 你有新邮件 ”的提示声而大红大紫。我还记得如何通过复式的免费“ 10 hour ” trial 的CD 装作几个人。我还记得试图说服我爸向AOL Internet付费, 但是 29.95 美元一个月实在是太贵了……所以我一直在寻找能上线又不要钱的方法。

回到电子邮件的话题。我现在可能已经有10个活跃的电子邮件帐户。的确,看上去很像是发疯,但是大部分都是我的 shadstone 的公司帐户路径下的。
我想迫使朋友和同事使用 twitter……为什么,因为它很快,而且也强迫发件人切中要害。而且,如果信息是发在 Internet 上,别的人也能看见,对他们解决问题也能有所帮助……不像是 1 对 1 的对话。还有作为一个 internet dude ,这些信息会在世界范围内的网络上存档,并被搜索引擎索引,在将来被别人发现……

还有,当发送电子邮件的时候,发送者应该想清楚:“写邮件的目的到底是什么?”

收发电子邮件不应该是一个全职工作!我读了 Tim Ferris 的《一星期四小时》,他说我们不应该在开始一天工作的时候检查邮件。因为那样我们就陷于被动而不是积极主动!所以我要开始工作还得先等别人给我发电子邮件?不!我应该把任务制定好,到办公室去,喝一杯咖啡,然后开始工作,而不是打开电子邮件受它的控制。马上开始完成任务,然后再检查电子邮件。分清楚轻重缓急!

我说电子邮件将来会退出使用,大家一定认为我疯掉了。将来越来越多的人会通过社交媒体进行交流,比如说 twitter, facebook ,还有别的。虽然我现在还没用,但是Google已经推出了一个新工具——Google wave——那将会把 email 和社交媒体结合带来公开化的交流体验……即使是联系表格的提交就能完成对话,而不需要把整个公司的“联系我们”表单填完。现在我正努力从未读邮件中挣扎出来。我还记得我从德意志银行辞职的时候,我有1000多封未读邮件,而且后来一直是未读邮件!我没空打开它们,我只是浏览一下主题栏和发件人,从中找出我需要打开的邮件。现在我的 hotmail 也一样了,几千封未读邮件……我一辈子一不会全打开,就是浏览一下择其要者打开。

的确,我没组织好语言,的确,也没有好的中心,但是我想读者中的一定有人能了解我的苦衷。

我盼望有一天,电子邮件在日常生活中变得不那么重要。你说呢?
